RPG Policy Quick Reference
This page is REALLY important. No one is going to want to read my (rennatnave101's) text wall, so this page is most likely the only policy many of our players will ever read.DracoSupreme did a good job here, but we need to finish this, keep it AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE, and add a few bad jokes to keep the reader awake!
We want to get started as soon as possible, so I (rennatnave101) will get working as soon as I can. Help and suggestions are appreciated.
Read through this short list of rules before you start playing. For the more detailed Policy, go to the main page.
If you haven't been already, get recruited:
- You need an account to play in the RPG (sorry anonymous people, but everyone needs to know who you are). Signing up for a WikiFoundry Account is easy enough.
- To join a side in the RPG, go to the Official Joining Thread and make a new post, including which side you wish to join. You are considered a player after a Leader from that side approves your post. (And only Leaders!)
- You can't do anything until your application post is accepted, and any actions you take before being approved will be promptly deleted.
- Signing up for both factions is not allowed, and you can't make your own faction.
- Keep to one application post, as any extra posts will be deleted (save for bumps).
- Be patient after posting your application. You may bump your post (make another post that says "bump" or the like) if your application is neither accepted nor rejected within 24 hours.
- Once you have been approved to join your side, go to the census page and add an entry for yourself.
- You must keep track of your own information (nobody else will!), and keep it up-to-date.
- There are seven (7) slots for you to put information:
- Name: RPG name here (if it is something other than your username, put your username in parentheses)
- Rank: This is a number from 0 to 12 which signifies your overall RPG class. If you are new, this number should be 1.
- Roles: List your jobs or positions here. You can sign up for roles on the main base page. You must get approval here too.
- Health: 100/100 is peak (and starting) health. If you get hurt, change it to reflect your proper health. (As x/100)
- Money: This is the number of crystals (symbolized by ©) you have. Your weekly income is based on rank. And no, you are not earning Copyrights. It is Crystals.
- Inventory: Here you list your personal belongings and things you have acquired.
- Stats: This slot is where you list your training levels.
- And if you think us not keeping track means you can cheat, think again. We ARE watching (Close enough anyway). No cheating!
- Don't change anyone's information but your own. Even if there is a glaring issue with their information, it is better to notify your superiors than to try to fix the problem yourself.
- Again, keep your information up to date. Try to update once a week or at least once a month.
Battling basics:
- A lot can be learned through experience. Be patient, we veterans had no fancy rule system. We had to learn ourselves! :P
- Battling is based on stats and statistics. Make sure you know yours. As for vehicles and NPC armies, see the main policy. No need to worry until you get an officer role though, let them handle that.
- Battles take place on battle threads. These take place on an in-universe location. You cannot battle on Mars when you're in another galaxy! (I don't care if you have reality-warping powers. It still takes time.)
- Attacking bases by yourself is a bad idea. "Magically" attacking secret areas is frowned upon. We don't care if you can see the page/make a thread there.
- Remember that players are harder to battle than NPCs. (And you have to make them accept defeat too)
- To start a battle:
- Choose the location for the battle. This is where you will post the battle thread.
- Start a new thread on that page with a suitable name. Your thread name will have "Battle:" before the name (i.e. "Battle: Battle of the Ridge"). Redundancy is ignored, write it like that if you have to.
- In your first post, you need to state what units are attacking (including the numbers of those units), and from which direction. Try to visualize the area, and describe it.
- Make sure you are attacking with units you have. If you are attacking with nonexistent units or units that are busy elsewhere, then your battle thread will be deleted. You can attack with yourself.
- List any specific actions that are taken by your attacking force (this can be movements to locations, attacking specific targets, setting up bunkers, etc.).
- You are allowed to add any commentary or anything like that if you wish. Try to keep it at the end.
- Wait for a reply from the defending team before doing anything else.
- The Defending team's reply:
- Usually you have two choices if you are attacked: (1) Fight, or (2) Retreat.
- If you choose to (1) Fight, then post a reply consisting of a Battle Head, specific actions, and any commentary.
- Important: If you are defending, then you can only use what units are stationed at your location to start. You can send for or rather ask for reinforcements, but for the first post and all others until reinforcements arrive, you have only your stationed units. If the commander of the forces is absent, you may take temporary command. Try to refrain from commanding or locking up other players' units though.
- If you choose to (2) Retreat, then clearly describe what units are leaving. Here, speeds matter. You may leave a small force to protect the retreating group, in which case you must describe that defending force.
- You can get fancy with diversions, splits, ambushes and all that. But describe it. Properly.
- Try to ignore off-topic posts.
- Once a battle ends, the thread ends. Try keeping post-battle discussion to a minimum. Use another thread or personal messages to discuss strategy and potential improvements.
- After battle start, any players can join. Escalating small conflicts into massive capital fleet battles is frowned upon. So is using weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) to end battles before they start. The enemy might get MAD. (As in Mutual Assured Destruction mad)
- The logistics of wins and losses are to be managed by the administration (officers and the like) of your side, unless they were very personal gains, such as a piece of technology or an artifact.
- In the event of a draw, both parties can leave the battle without having to concede to the other.
Health:
- Player Health is a number from 0 to 100.
- Your max health can change. It starts as 100.
- This system is fully compatible with weapon damage.
- On the scale 0 is dead, 10 - 20 is critically injured, 30 - 50 is sick or injured, 60 - 70 is satisfactory health, 80 - 90 is healthy, and 100+ is full health. A negative number is the same as 0. Other than the overkill. You will respawn with 10 health anyway.
- Injuries can come from battle, training accidents, and other things of the sort.
- Different types of injuries cause different amounts of damage:
- Sprains, jams, etc. subtract 10 health.
- Cuts, hard knocks, etc. subtract 20 health.
- Gashes, major strains, etc. subtract 30 health.
- Concussions, broken bones, etc. subtract 40 health.
- Major injuries subtract 50 or more health.
- You regain 30 health every week.
- Your Defense stat can reduce physical damage.
- To heal injuries, cure sickness, and re-spawn after death, you must go to your side's sickbay page.
- Your sickbay has on it the time it takes to heal injuries, cure sicknesses. Re-spawn times remain constant.
- Medical research and advances can lower the amount of time it takes to heal and cure.
- To heal an injury or cure a sickness, you must put your player name in an open space and fill out the required information.
- Once your time is up, you may leave the sickbay. You can leave mid-treatment, but this is not advised.
- Re-spawning takes 24 hours from the time you post your name on the sickbay. You can buy an immediate re-spawn for 1000 ©.
Rank:
- All you need to know is listed on your factions main page.
- Once you get to the officer level of rank (Rank 6) and start having command duty, it is highly recommended to read the main RPG policy.
- You can find all the rules and information on this RPG there.
And remember, have fun!
These rules apply to the current scenario in use in the RPG, and will always be up-to-date for the RPG situation. There are no errors here, if it says you may not create factions, then the current situation does not allow it. No exceptions.
