An Easy, Inexpensive Way to Make Crystals

The Lego energy crystals look awesome and can easily attach to Lego creations, but what if you are making a movie, need lots of crystals, and don't want to use the crystals that you paid good money for or have to buy a ton? What if you want to make a background, or glue them to cardboard or paper for a picture or as a decoration? Well look no further. These crystals are cheap and easy to make, and look much more realistic on the ground anyway. They have imperfections, which make them look very realistic. It requires a little work, but that is only to get the green-yellow tinge.

Any rock salt will do. It is a type of crystal and it is perfectly scaled to Lego minifigures, so it plays the role of unrefined crystals well.
The food coloring is what gives the crystals their color.
Step 1: Put the rock salt in a small tray or container (Tupperware works well)
Stage 1
Step 2: Put in the food coloring. It is best to have more green than yellow (I cannot specify how much to add, as containers vary in size and height)
Step 3: Wait overnight. You should get something like this.
Stage 2/3
For special crystals, use other food coloring.
Another great thing about these is that they are absolutely non- toxic. Although pure salt is not exactly good for your heart (or tasty), it won't knock you out. I have eaten them myself, and I am perfectly fine. Kind of.
